The HETTANZ Executive team is thrilled to announce the success of the 2024 FashionAwards event, which received generous support from our Platinum partner Bernina. Judgingtook place on Tuesday 22nd October, and we were delighted to see continued participationfrom schools across the motu. We extend our gratitude to the teachers who submitted their students' work, as their commitment and encouragement are vital.

“Another year of fantastic entries” says HETTANZ president, Adrienne Reeves. “My thankson behalf of all HETTANZ members, goes to the judging team: Pip Stevenson (Whitecliffe-Wellington Campus), Anna Hicks (Bernina) and Executive representative Sue Hannaway (Upper Hutt College), who dedicated their time to evaluate the impressive entries”.

The competition featured various categories for Intermediate (Years 7-8), Junior (Years 9-10), and Senior (Years 11-13) levels, focusing on technical sewing skills, creativity with fabric,applied design, and sustainability in design.

Our major sponsor has again provided fantastic prizes, including sewing machines andoverlockers, for the category winners. Guest judges continue to be impressed by the highquality and technical standards of the entries, noting that many garments were ‘retailready’. Comments from judges highlighted the creativity and personal touches in thedesigns.
